Kigooco
(meaning Kikuyu Gospel in English) is one of the most popular genres in Kenya. In fact,
many people listen and dance to the songs even though they don’t understand the
words or lines in the tracks. Here’s a look at the top 5 Kigooco artists to
look out for in 2015.
1. Loise
Kim: Regarded as one of the most talented musicians in the 254, Loise has
continued released hit and after hit. More is expected from the “Queen” singer. update: Loise Kim was nominated and won the Female Artist Of The Year in the 10th Groove Awards . congratulations are in order!
2. Ben
Githae: He has been in the industry for some time and still continues to enjoy
wide receivership. Should add more tracks to his popular collection this year.
3. Betty
Bayo: Despite recent public limelight over the infamous Dr.Prophet Kanyari’s
saga, the “Siyabonga” hit maker has silently continued with her work in the
studio. She has attracted thousands of fans since rising to stardom in
2011, and this shouldn’t change anytime soon.

Mutaara: A groove award winner in 2011, Dennis has a handful of popular tracks

“Kigooco” industry.

Mwai: Rounding up our list of top kigooco artists is Paul Mwai. He is a devoted Christian and his worship songs are played everywhere. His
style features a mix of English, Swahili and Kikuyu. Should release more tracks
this year.
